St.
Georges, September 19th, 2008:
Members of the Opposition are calling on
the Minister for Health and the Police
to conduct proper investigations into a
report of a human leg found which was
found in “Perseverance”.
The
opposition believes that if this leg was
disposed of by the hospital then it is
cause for major concerns and that it
goes contrary to the policies developed
by the former Government as it relates
to proper disposal of biomedical waste
including human parts.
The
Opposition is additionally concerned
about the health risk if such a practice
continues, and wishes to advise that the
proper procedures must always be
followed by those concerned when it
comes to disposal of bio-medical waste.
On the
contrary, if this was disposed of by an
ordinary individual then there is even
more cause for concern as questions such
as: How was the leg amputated? Whose leg
was amputated? And who amputated the
leg? It is only obvious that if this
leg was not disposed of by the hospital
that the police must be carrying out
continued investigation. |
