Many are
saying that it appears that a number of
individuals are on a vicious mission of
attack on former Prime Minister, Keith
Mitchell even after they have worked so
hard to help remove him from office and
would have done so much in an attempt to
destroy his character over the years.
So what can
be the motive? Why are they so
preoccupied with Keith Mitchell? Making
Grenada a one party state with NDC in
power forever? Or, is it jealousy over a
poor little black boy from Happy Hill
being the longest serving Prime
Minister? Is it just blind hatred?
It is very
useful to note that those said persons
if you look behind their vicious
comments and attack you will see that
they are not qualified to even say a
word. Their character and reputation
leave a lot to be desired.
A recent
public statement that can be considered
very misleading, is the statement made
by so called lawyer Anslem Clouden that
the court should issue a bench warrant
for the police to arrest the former PM
to attend an upcoming court hearing.
Many who
heard the statement thought that Dr.
Mitchell was going to answer charges of
corruption as the opposition falsely
misleads people into thinking that he
will have to immediately after they won
the election. It was even stated by the
new Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas
that his first priority in government
will be to jail Keith Mitchell. No
wonder why he is not taking time to deal
with the rising cost of living and the
suffering of poor people.
Many did
not know that Clouden was talking about
a case where Dr Mitchell took George
Worme to court for publishing LIES in
“The Grenada Today News Paper” The
case which has been in court since about
2004 has seen Dr. Mitchell going on the
witness stand on about four occasions
while he was Prime Minister. To date no
judgment has been given in this matter.
From
reports received, Dr. Mitchell had
decided not to proceed with this matter
and has informed the then magistrate
when he was Prime Minister that he was
no longer interested in proceeding with
the case. He therefore has no need to
go to court as Clouden has indicated.
It is
interesting to note that the new
magistrate Henry Paryag worked in
Clouden’s office and is a very close
associate of Clouden. It is therefore
easy to understand why Clouden will
publicly say that Paryag will issue a
bench warrant to arrest the former Prime
Minister as if he was Paryag’s boss.
This raises a major concern as it
relates to the judicial process and
justice in Grenada when a lawyer can say
what the magistrate will be doing.
It is also
interesting to note that Dr. Mitchell
complained that both Anslem Clouden and
George Worme both verbally assaulted the
former Prime Minister at the opening of
Parliament and said to him that they
were part of the efforts to bring his
Government down. Well it is not too
difficult to understand why George Worme
feels the way he does because he owes
Dr. Mitchell thousands of dollars for
judgement in a case where Dr. Mitchell
sued him for again telling LIES in his
papers.
George
Worme has also stated that he will be
continuing his efforts and will not stop
till he sees the former Prime Minister
in jail. This has to be a deep sense of
hate and it tells that some activists
for the NDC don’t see the court as the
place to go for justice but believe that
their feelings and emotions must be the
deciding factor in determining who goes
to jail and does not. Old people always
say when you digging a hole for someone
always dig an extra one for yourself.
Dr.
Mitchell has never been convicted or
adjudged against in a court of law or in
any tribunal or other authoritative
body. If any attacks are to be made why
not attack Hon. Peter David against
whom judgements have been given in the
USA for civil fraud? Or Hon Glen Noel
who was dismissed by the Public Service
Commission for misrepresenting his
qualification in a false certificate.
It appears
that persons like George Worme and
Anslem Clouden and other key members and
supporters of the NDC want to see Dr.
Mitchell arrested and will spare no
effort to see that happen.
During the
election campaign the opposition told
the nation that Dr. Mitchell was needed
in the US to answer charges and he was
avoiding going to the US because he
would be arrested. It must be noted
that there is no pending legal matter
against the former PM in the USA. Who
is fooling who? I understand he leaves
for the USA this weekend.
