George's
Dear Sister
Anne,
I write to
you to bring to your attention some
incidents which have been occurring in
the hospital since the last general
elections. Some of the things I wish to
raise are things you condemn during the
election campaign. Based on what you
said then, I believe you should have
been moving more aggressively to solve
them as you promised.
At Princess
Alice hospital there is a serious
problem with the urgency with which
doctors respond to patients who are
brought to casualty. In particular, I
refer to a senior doctor. If you
investigate, nurses will tell you that
they have to call over and over before
the doctor can leave the house, which is
less than two minutes away, to come to
see a patient who may be dying. There
are many cases I can refer to, that I
know of personally, and I am prepared to
get persons to come in to provide facts
to support this claim.
The passing
away of patients at the hospital was
always an issue under the last
administration and the administration
was blamed for many things. Madam
Minister, I am asking you to please find
out about the death of Ms Bernadine
Jones of Post Royal. Family and friends
still believe that it was a case of
negligence, but you can investigate to
confirm.
You can
also investigate whether or not it
happened and the circumstances under
which a mother recently died while
delivering a twin at the general
hospital and there are a number of other
examples I can use.
Sister
Anne, is it normal for the ambulance to
go to an accident with just the driver?
If it is not, please investigate whether
this happened in the case of an accident
which took place in St. David’s a few
weeks ago.
Sister Anne
what is the situation with TB in the
country or in the prison? This was a
big concern during the campaign but you
have not said anything. Was this
concern raised just to get voters to
vote for NDC? Also, you have not said
anything about the AC unit at the
General Hospital that may have been
causing the death of babies. Was that
statement made just to win votes? Was
the unit removed? Are babies still
dying?
Also, the
public is still interested in knowing
the facts about the leg that was
discovered in Perseverance. Is it true
that the leg was disposed of by the
General Hospital? Please clarify.
Sen. Anne,
can you also explain why the contracts
for the specialist nurses in the
dialysis unit were not renewed and why
the nurses were sent back to their
country?
I listened
to Minister Hood on radio, and I was
shocked to hear some of his answers to
questions asked. I concluded that
people speak based on which side of the
fence they are on. The same things that
NDC criticized during the campaign, now
it is normal and expected. So according
to Minister Hood, waiting an entire day
to see a doctor in casualty is quite
normal and can be avoided if people only
use the out station clinics in their
areas. Isn’t that the same thing the
former Minister of Health said? But you
guys pretended that you knew how to make
every thing better. Now you have the
opportunity to make everything better,
we are waiting patiently.
We were
made to believe that these things will
never happen under the congress, but I
am desperate for change.
