Here we go
again, with the "bite off your nose
to spoil your face" vengefulness.
In this case, it is the face of Grenada
that continues to take the beating. In
North America presidential candidate,
Barack Obama warns voters that they
should be prepared for some more "slash-and
burn" dirty tactics from a
desperate Republican Party in the final
days leading up to the U.S elections.
Here in Grenada, we are some four months
into new governance after our elections,
yet we still agonize in a cesspool of
negativity. We are being subjected to
the "slash-and-burn" tactics from
a government that should be otherwise
preoccupied with running this country,
especially in these challenging times.
Campaign
propaganda was begrudgingly accepted
during the heat of combative
campaigning. But, for sanity sake, it
has been thirteen (13) years of the same
old tricks and Grenadians have been
caught in the web of the most
despicable, gutter politics this blessed
nation has ever weathered. The
boneheaded actions of Lloyd Noel, Anselm
Clouden and their cohorts are still
causing Grenada and Grenadians grief and
embarrassment. And now to top that, the
tandem of Arley Gill and Attorney
General, Jimmy Bristol, have come before
the nation to demonstrate their
political intoxication and judicial
blindness. What a farce.
It is a
vexing shame that we remain passive –
taking a back-seat approach - giving
these morons a platform to embarrass
Grenada with their asinine behaviour.
And what is most disturbing is that so
many of us seem to be entertained by
this debilitating horror show. Have we
all grown politically drunk and cannot
see nor feel the danger signs?
This latest
Citizenship fiasco is a testament that
this slash-and-burn mess in not
going away. As a matter of major
concern, it seems to be the modus
operandi of this new administration.
They cannot get away with placing the
blame on Keith Mitchell anymore. It is
very evident that there is a protracted
witch-hunt to taint the former Prime
Ministers image, both locally and
internationally, as insurance so that
the new government can go un-opposed in
not fulfilling its promises and
responsibilities. We know of the get
Keith Mitchell by any means necessary
mandate.
Also, with
a police force divided and on the
defensive; with meddling from senior
members of the legal fraternity; and
with the pandering and gullibility of a
significant number of media houses, we
run the risk of outdoing the Mugabi
regime. In terms of checks and balance
as it relates to Government's behaviour,
the media must be on the side of the
masses.
It is
very clear where the fire is coming
from. So, on behalf of the people
of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite
Martinique, I ask the self-professed
stalwarts and the self-righteous
pretenders to humble themselves and
exercise some restraint and dignity
as leaders. We expect no less.
Enough is Enough – as we
reminded them that we don't
necessarily have to wait five years
to act.
