Time to move on

Dear Editor,

Please permit me a space in your weekly paper to say that I am not afraid to admit that I recently went to Mr. Gregory Bowen to say that I wanted him to forgive me for what I believe was a mistake on my part.  I believed the opposition in the campaign when they said that he was a corrupt man.  I remember a man came to my house during the campaign and the things he told me, left me so confused that I voted for change.

Even if I knew Mr. Bowen all my life, the way they sold the information to me I was convinced that they had facts.  When they announced on the radio that Mr. Bowen won the case and I heard him explain the whole thing I felt ashamed of myself for falling in an election trap.  I felt sorry for him and his family because I helped to spread the rumors too.

The promises they made are not being fulfilled and on top of that all they seem to be doing is engaging in lies and attacks rather than trying to settle down and build the country.  I am sick and tired of hearing about Keith. Mitchell.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner is the same song.  If it is not Keith Mitchell, then it is the former government.  How can we move forward like this?

Now is about citizenship.  Lord, why would you believe that a person have citizenship when you see that they have a visa in their passport that you have and will not give them?  Why couldn’t you write to the person expressing your concerns?  Why do you have to give a newspaper man a copy of the letter to make scandal?  Why do you have to go on TV attacking the man and talking about him stepping down as representative when you did not elect him?

Are we trying to go back to the dark days?  Change is not always for the better and I have learnt this the hard way.  My responsibility is to pray for the Government and I am doing that, but it is hard when I see the things that are happening everyday.  I call on the government to move on.  The campaign is over.  Manage the country.  Get jobs for us.  We want opportunities.  We want support to send our children to school.  We want so many things that you promised us and you don’t have unlimited time so start now.  Please leave Keith Mitchell and Gregory Bowen alone and focus on Grenada.  Your behavior has driven me right back to the NNP.

S. Alexander
