The Harassment of Dr. Mitchell must stop

Let me begin by congratulating Dr. Mitchell and NNP for a well attended and successful General Council meeting held at the St. Mark's Secondary School on Sunday 3rd, November 2008. Although I was not there, my associates informed me that 'Jonah is alive and well.'

I also want to congratulate Dr. Mitchell for proving to his 'hunter' George Worme, the Attorney General James Bristol and Arley Gill that only the truth will see you free and at the same time warn him. I want to warn him that he will be continued to be harassed by those who are jealous of him and hate him.

Bear in mind that political intimidation and harassment of Opposition members becomes a reality when the sitting government cannot present a credible development program or promises made to the electorate. I foresee that NNP members will be detained for the usual 48 hours under the pretext that the DPP has ordered same due to a criminal investigation; there will be unfounded allegations against members about all sorts of offences, the list will be long, however, at some point it has to stop and with God not sleeping, believe me, it would stop.

Dr. Mitchell citizenship issue is dead as far I am concerned, and if Ingrid Jackson feels that she can sneak through the backdoor to take Dr.Mitchell's legitimately deserved seat, then she is dreaming as she was doing during the election campaign. Too bad she had to unpack her bags after the US Embassy revelation on Thursday 30th, November 2008 which cleared the air on Dr. Mitchell's citizenship status which, interestingly, now puts shame on the confident faces of Senator Arley Gill, Attorney General James Bristol and Grenada Today newspaper Editor George Worme whose 'smoking gun' was jammed by those with the FACTS.

Having said all that, it is time for the NDC to come forward with a National Development alternative and cease the petty mentality of trying to harass opposition members. The members of the NDC Government also need to declare their assets as they said they would during the election campaign. Senator Arley Gill also needs to know that 'we the people' are still awaiting the lease he promised to present to the nation for his Boat 'Baby Ruth' which was caught in St. Vincent waters with an unexplainable amount of cash causing the crew to be charged by Vincentian law enforcement. The NDC Government promised that they would 'provide free health care for all children under the age of 18 and senior citizens over 60 years' we are yet to hear anything about this.

The Grenadian people voted the NDC into office to manage the affairs of the country, not to manage the affairs of the opposition leader who continues to make the likes of George Worme and his cohorts the laughing stock in the eyes and minds of Grenadians around the world.

Sen. Arley Gill & AG

In the NDC'S Manifesto it stated that 'the Grenadian people can confidently rely upon us to show zero tolerance for unethical conduct'. With this being said I ask you Mr. Prime Minister;  'Will Senator Arley Gill be reprimanded for his verbal and unethical attack on the Opposition Leader at the 'fishing expedition' press conference held last week Wednesday? Will Newspaper editor George Worme be reprimanded for his disgusting, distasteful and most unethical attack on the Office of the Governor General?  Will Ambassador and former Off-shore salesman Anslem Clouden be reprimanded for his outburst on the US Charge D'Affaires Karen Jo McIssac who was only doing her job?  Will your Government's advisor Lloyd Noel be reprimanded for his libelous article published about Dr. Mitchell and the World's youngest F1 30th World Champion Lewis Hamilton regarding the Hotel deal?

Finally, Mr. Prime Minister the on-going tactics of harassment by the agents and advisors in your Government will be your Government's biggest downfall. If you have not taken note about the loss of the Hamilton deal, the boomerang effect trying to get at Dr. Mitchell, the attacks on the Office of Governor General and the situation where each member of your team seems to be doing they own thing, then I feel sorry for you as someone who is known to be Mr. Transparency, Integrity, accountability and honesty.

Remember your vision for Grenada 'It is a vision of a nation that is free, a land of equal opportunity, a land of tolerance, fair play and prosperity. This is our country and we want to make it a place where we can live, work, bring up our children and enjoy the fruits of our labour in peace and harmony'. Those are your words.
